Krasnodar and Porto take on each other at Stadion Kuban in what is expected to be one of the most entertaining games of Wednesday’s program in the Champions League qualifiers. A place in the play-offs for the elite competition is at stake, meaning that both teams are likely to leave their hearts on the field this time out.

It is well known that Krasnodar are tough to beat at home and seeing that they have been in a fine form in the national championship of late, we predict that the Russian club will grab something from the first leg. Porto, on the other hand, who failed to win the Portuguese Primeira Liga trophy last season, are determined to make amends for the unsuccessful campaign and seeing that they are a real force to be reckoned with at home, the Dragons would be happy with the share of spoils in Wednesday’s football match.

HIGHLIGHTED PLAYER (YACINE BRAHIMI):

French-born Algerian attacking midfielder Yacine Brahimi is a technically gifted footballer, who can also fill in at winger position. The 26-year-old midfielder started his career as a proper footballing nomad, going through various clubs’ youth ranks before settling at Rennes. French Ligue 1 side gave Brahimi his professional debut in 2009.

After spells at Clermont and Granada which resulted in Brahimi’s sale to the Spanish outfit, Brahimi moved to Porto where he achieved his full international recognition. The Algerian midfielder settled immediately and was exceptional in his first six months at the Portuguese club. His mesmerizing dribbling skills and creative abilities have quickly made his one of Porto’s key men in the centre of the park. Consistent performances and thrilling displays have earned Yacini Brahimi picked up the African Footballer of the Year for 2014.

The fabulously gifted player has been turning heads across Europe with top clubs from the continent lining up behind him. At 26 years of age Brahimi still has plenty of time in front of him and is expected to reach further heights with his club in the Champions League.

HIGHLIGHTED TEAM (FC PORTO):

Futebol Clube do Porto are one of Portugal’s biggest football clubs playing their matches in front of 50,000 people at their Estadio do Dragao. Porto form biggest rivalries with two other Big Three clubs in Portugal and regular league title contenders – Benfica and Sporting CP. Rivalries between the clubs stem from the historical, political, economical and cultural discrepancies between the cities of Porto and Lisbon. The Dragons, as they are commonly known in Portugal, are the second most successful Portuguese team with a total of 74 trophies to their name.

Porto hold a record of five consecutive league titles which are part of the total tally of 27 Primeira Liga trophies. FC Porto’s success extends to the international scene as well with seven European titles. Two-time European champions from 1987 and 2004, Porto also won two UEFA Cup/Europa League titles, the UEFA Super Cup and the International Cup on two occasions. Together with Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United, Porto have the most appearances in the UEFA Champions League group stage – the total of 20.
