As expected, Liverpool crushed Norwich City 4-1 in the opening match of the new Premier League campaign, with Mohamed Salah opening his goal-scoring account. The Reds are determined to put an end to Man City’s dominance in the English top flight and we are positive that they are going to stick to their attacking style of play against the Saints.

Considering that Senegal ace Sadio Mane is likely to be recalled to the starting line-up, we believe that there is a big value in betting on Jurgen Klopp’s troops.

Southampton experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 3-0 loss to Burnley and seeing that the Reds were scoring goals for fun in their opener, we do not believe that the hosts are capable of claiming a major scalp on Matchday 2. In their last meeting at St. Mary’s Stadium Liverpool recorded a 3-1 win over Southampton.

HIGHLIGHTED PLAYER (SHANE LONG):

Shane Long is an Irish international striker who has so far made over 60 appearances for the Republic of Ireland national team, scoring more than 15 goals in the process. The forward began his professional career at Cork City, but only made one league appearance for the club ahead of the switch to Reading, where he would go on to spend next seven years.

During that time, Long established himself as one of the best Irish strikers plying their trade in England, and also went on to represent West Bromwich Albion, Hull City and Southampton.

Despite not exactly boasting an enviable goalscoring record for a centre forward, Long was always held in high regard by both managers and his peers, with his incredible work rate and never-say-die attitude winning him plenty of admirers. Long will also go down as one of the most prolific scorers in the history of the Republic of Ireland national team, which he represented at the Euro 2012 and Euro 2016 finals.

HIGHLIGHTED TEAM (LIVERPOOL):

Founded back in 1892, Liverpool are one of England’s and world’s most famous clubs. The Reds hold a high-profile rivalry with Everton and there have always been fireworks when the two teams take on each other in the Merseyside derby.

The Reds welcome their opponents at Anfield and it has to be noted that they have already won 18 first division trophies. Liverpool were on the verge of lifting the 2014/2015 Premier League trophy, but Steven Gerrard slipped in the decider against Chelsea and left the Reds without a title.

Liverpool won their last Champions League trophy in 2005, with the team coming from three goals behind to beat Milan in a historic clash in Istanbul. The Reds have clinched five European Cups and it is no surprise they are regarded as one of the greatest European clubs.

The likes of Steven Gerrard, Robbie Fowler, Paul Ince, Ian Rush, Graeme Souness, Sami Hyypia and Luis Suarez are some of the most notable footballers to have represented the club over the years. The club’s anthem is You’ll Never Walk Alone and their shirt colour is red.
