18th July: Sunday’s MLS Accumulator – 9/1

With this summer’s European Championships coming to an end last weekend, all eyes should turn to a stacked MLS schedule throughout the early hours of Sunday. On that note, for those of you looking to stick on a little flutter, we have found a handful of helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for.

Sunday 18th July

BST 00:00 New York Red Bulls vs Inter Miami

Starting with this weekend’s hosts, despite putting in what was a hugely impressive display at home against Philadelphia last time out, there is no doubt that New York would have been disappointed to have had to settle for a point. Watching The Union snatch a last-gasp equalizer, Gerhard Struber’s side should be smelling a golden chance to make an immediate return to winning ways on Sunday. While on paper it might show that The Red Bulls have managed to muster just a single win from their last four MLS matchups, the former Barnsley boss has seen his side put in some impressive displays. With just a single defeat to their name since May 23rd, New York should be boosted by what is a rampant record on home soil. Despite that minor blip last time out against Philadelphia, Struber’s men have collected 13 points from their last five MLS matchups at the Red Bull Arena. On the flip side, coming off the back of what was another dreadful display in their 1-0 loss against Montréal on the road, Inter Miami find themselves in the midst of a real nightmare. With the pressure firmly on Phil Neville’s shoulders, the former Lionesses boss finds his side enduring a five-match losing run. With just three points from their last seven contests and with just a single win to their name since the end of April, we’re backing a home victory here.

Tip: New York Red Bulls win & Under 4.5 goals @ 11/10

02:00 Colorado Rapids vs San Jose Earthquakes

Despite heading into their mini-break with a 3-1 defeat against Sporting KC on the road last month, The Rapids have once again continued to impress many across the Western Conference this season. Tipped by many as a standout pick to secure another Final Series spot this time around, Colorado were last seen putting in another professional display. Picking up what was an eye-catching 2-0 victory against Minnesota United on home soil, Robin Fraser’s side have lost just a pair of their last nine MLS matchups, a run that stems back to April 25th. Smelling what should be a golden chance to make it back-to-back victories this weekend, Sunday’s hosts should also be boosted by what has become a rampant record at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Including that deserved win against Minnesota last week, The Rapids have mustered 13 points from their last five home fixtures. With pleasant memories about their last meeting against this weekend’s guests after landing a 5-0 romp when they met San Jose last season, The Earthquakes might face another stern test in the early hours of Sunday morning. On the flip side, while Matías Almeyda’s men might have managed to land a point against Minnesota last time out, it doesn’t cover what has been a dreadful run. Including another 5-0 defeat at the hands of Orlando last month, San Jose have collected just a pair of points from their last eight straight MLS matchups.

Tip: Colorado Rapids to score in both halves @ 5/4

03:00 Vancouver Whitecaps vs LA Galaxy

Starting with Sunday’s guests, while LA Galaxy would have been disappointed to have been hit with that 2-0 defeat against Sporting KC earlier in the month, The Whites managed to bounce back in some style. Last seen putting in a thumping display as they picked up a 3-1 win against Dallas on home soil, the former MLS champions have managed to soldier on without attacking talisman Javier Hernandez. Missing out on a spot in the Final Series and enduring a torrid run in the Western Conference last season, there is no doubt that Greg Vanney’s side have made a string of improvements this time around. Opening the weekend fixtures sat third in the table and mustering nine points from their last four contests, fans around the Dignity Health Sports Park will also be boosted by their side’s recent displays on the road. Last seen outside of Carson picking up a 3-1 victory against San Jose, Vanney’s men have collected back-to-back away victories for the first time this season. On the flip side, while LA might be enjoying a recent purple patch, Vancouver find themselves enduring their own battle at the opposite end of the Western Conference. Already sat rock-bottom of the standings, The Whitecaps were last seen putting in another horror display. Eventually getting smashed with a 4-0 drumming at the hands of Real Salt Lake, Sunday’s hosts have failed to win any of their last eight MLS matchups on the spin, collecting just a pair of points.

Tip: LA Galaxy win & LA Galaxy to score over 1.5 goals @ 5/4
