Javier Tebas admits he is against Neymar's return to Barcelona

La Liga president Javier Tebas is hoping that Neymar does not return to Barcelona this summer

La Liga president Javier Tebas has admitted he is hoping that Neymar does not return to Barcelona this summer, insisting his behaviour is 'not good for the competition'.

The Brazilian star has been linked with a return to the Nou Camp all summer amid reports he is no longer happy at Paris Saint-Germain.

Neymar, who left Spain for France for a world-record fee of £198million two years ago, is desperate to return and reports suggest Barcelona would be open to bringing him back.

However, his rumored comeback does not seem to be exciting everyone in Spain with La Liga chief Tebas claiming his antics are not in line with 'the values' of the Spanish top flight.

'I prefer that Neymar does not return to Barca,' he told Spanish radio station Onda Cero.

'We always want to bring great players, but in the case of Neymar that behaviour is not good for the competition because in the end the news is if the player has done this or that.

'We have worked a lot in La Liga to maintain the values and we don't want to change the image.'

Tebas admitted that he is an admirer of Neymar's talents on the pitch but wants more from somebody representing La Liga on a global scale.

The 27-year-old played a total of 186 matches for the Nou Camp outfit before leaving for PSG

'He can be a great player, but the behaviour is very important in the values we transmit in the competition,' he said.

'If outside the field the example is not correct, I prefer that he doesn't return to La Liga because he is not a good example.'

The 27-year-old played a total of 186 matches for the Nou Camp outfit, with an incredible return of 105 goals and 76 assists, before leaving for the French capital.

Neymar is currently working his way to back to full fitness after limping off during Brazil's friendly against Qatar earlier this month.

The forward was ruled out of the Copa America with an ankle injury before the start of the tournament.
