The Netherlands and Scotland played out a 2-2 draw in a friendly international on Wednesday evening.
Both the Netherlands and Scotland will play in the Euro 2020 finals this summer, and the game on Wednesday was a warm-up for them.
Steve Clarke’s side took the lead after just 10 minutes when Jack Hendry drilled the ball home after good work from Stuart Armstrong.
However, the Dutch restored parity just seven minutes later when Georginio Wijnaldum found Memphis Depay to find the back of the net with a first-time shot.
Kevin Nisbet came on as a substitute to score with his first touch in the 63rd minute to put Scotland back in the lead.
However, Depay scored with a stunning effort on 89 minutes to make it 2-2 to the Netherlands, who are rated at 12/1 to win the Euro 2020 finals this summer.
This is what we learned from the match:
Memphis Depay would be a top signing
Memphis Depay has been linked with a number of clubs in Europe. The former Manchester United forward has revived his career at Lyon and is now a free agent. The 27-year-old Netherlands international would be a top signing for any major European club and would be able to make an immediate impact. The way Depay took his two goals against Scotland showed his class. The forward scored 20 goals and gave 12 assists in Ligue 1 for Lyon this season.
Kevin Nisbet could be a star
Kevin Nisbet has done well for Hibernian this season, and the 24-year-old striker is in the Scotland squad for the Euro 2020 finals on merit. The former Dunfermline Athletic star took his goal against the Netherlands well, and the signs are very positive indeed in terms of Nisbet making a big impact for the national side, not just for this summer, but in years to come as well.
Tough for David Turnbull
David Turnbull made his international debut for Scotland against the Netherlands. The midfielder has been one of the better players for Celtic this this season, but he found it tough against the Dutch. The youngster could not really impose himself in the middle of the park, and he paid a heavy price when he switched off for one moment and Depay scored. However, Turnbull can only learn from his mistake and will grow.
