While last week might have brought a close to the Premier League’s transfer window, that doesn’t mean that teams from across the top-flight can’t still bring in some of the EFL’s brightest talents.
With the Football League’s transfer window not slamming shut until October 16th, there remains a string of speculation surrounding a number of Championship stars and if they can secure a late Premier League switch this week.
On that note, we have taken a look at a handful of the Championship’s biggest names who could be making a step up over the coming days.
Saïd Benrahma – Brentford
Really setting the Championship alight with Brentford last season as he helped the Bees
reach the play-off final over the summer, it was no surprise to many that Saïd Benrahma was going to be a man in demand.
With Thomas Frank’s men making it clear that they would be willing to part ways with the Algerian international for the right fee, Brentford already saw Ollie Watkins make the move to Aston Villa last month and it appears the 25-year-old is the next to leave West London.
Already bagging a brace for Brentford in their 3-0 win against Fulham on EFL Cup duties earlier in the month, Sky Sports broke the news over the weekend that West Ham have reached a deal with the Championship that could be worth potentially up to £30million.
Joe Rodon – Swansea
With a string of Premier League sides making it clear that they are keen to add to their defensive reinforcements before the window slams shut on Friday, Swansea’s Joe Rodon has attracted a list of interest over the past week.
Gaining plenty of plaudits after the Whites’ charge to reach the play-offs over the summer, the 22-year-old is already a full Wales international and has a real reputation for his ability to play out from the back.
Featuring in Ryan Giggs’ squad for their Nations League contests and playing the full 90 minutes against England at Wembley last week, the Swansea ace was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham on the Premier League’s deadline day.
While Spurs might have seen their £7million bid knocked back by the Welsh outfit, The Daily Mail are reporting that Leicester have also thrown their hat into the ring.
Josh King – Bournemouth
Already watching Callum Wilson secure a £20million move to Newcastle over the summer, Bournemouth fans had already resigned themselves to the prospect of losing another one of their attacking talismans before the window closes on Friday.
With the South Coast outfit making it clear that they’re willing to allow Josh King to leave this week in an attempt to get his wages off of their Championship budget, the 28-year-old hasn’t been short of top-flight admirers.
Watching West Ham knocked back with a £13million opening offer for the former Manchester United starlet, TalkSport reported over the weekend that a high-flying Everton are also interested in a potential late deal to bring King to Goodison.
With Moise Kean making a loan move to French giants PSG earlier in the month, the Blues are keen to add to their attacking options this week.
Ismaila Sarr – Watford
Much like King at Bournemouth, Watford fans always knew that it would be extremely difficult to fend off Premier League interest around Ismaila Sarr as they sacrificed their top-flight status over the summer.
A real positive for the Hornets last season and really bursting onto the scene, the Senegalese star was arguably their standout performer last season and the 22-year-old has remained linked with a host of big-name destinations.
Previously linked with a potential move to Liverpool over the summer, it was also reported that Manchester United made a last-gasp move for Sarr before the former champions quickly saw their initial offer rebuffed by Watford.
With it widely believed that the pacey winger is desperate to extend his stay in the Premier League, The Sun have also reported that Crystal Palace are keen on bringing him to South London.
