The Premier League’s summer arrivals who have made an immediate impact
With Premier League teams from across the country really breaking the bank this summer, England’s top-flight has seen a string of superstar new arrivals come through the doors.
As the likes of West Ham also decided to invest heavily, the Premier League’s combined total spent this summer came to a staggering €1.355million.
However, while some new arrivals might be taking some time adjusting to life among Europe’s elite, a few stars have certainly come flying out of the traps.
With the Premier League marking its return from the international break this weekend, we have taken a look at a handful of summer arrivals who have made an immediate impact at their new clubs.
Erling Haaland – Manchester City
Finding the net away at Wolves prior to the international break as Manchester City cruised their way to a 3-0 romp, Erling Haaland has embarked on a record-break start to life in England’s top-flight.
Only further cementing his spot as one of world football’s most lethal number nines, the ex-Borussia Dortmund boss has remarkably already bagged 11 Premier League strikes from his opening seven appearances.
Awarded with August’s Player of the Month, Haaland has also single-handedly racked up more domestic strikes than 13 teams have managed throughout their whole squad so far this season.
Likewise, finding the net in back-to-back Champions League outings, the Norwegian international has also got on the scoresheet in each of City’s last seven consecutive showdowns.
Averaging a Premier League strike every 52 minutes and laying down a marker to Premier League defenders across the country, Haaland is cruising towards this season’s Golden Boot.
Gabriel Jesus – Arsenal
Marking their return from the international break still sat at the top of the Premier League table, Arsenal have enjoyed a stellar purple patch since opening the 2022/23 campaign.
Last seen cruising their way to a 3-0 victory away at Brentford earlier in the month, Mikel Arteta’s youngsters have also gained plenty of praise for the business that they completed over the summer.
Finding the net away at the Bees on September 18th, there is no doubt that Gabriel Jesus is very much enjoying life in north London.
Making the move from defending champions Manchester City back in a £45million deal back
in July, the 25-year-old has already notched four Premier League strikes and has received a host of plaudits.
Spearheading an Arsenal side that now have their sights set on securing a Champions League return this season, Jesus was also appointed one of Arteta’s vice-captains for this season.
João Palhinha – Fulham
While many might have tipped Fulham to be hit with an immediate Championship return this
season, the Cottagers have certainly come flying out of the traps.
Heading into the international break with a remarkable comeback away at Nottingham Forest as they eventually grabbed a 3-2 victory at the City Ground, Marco Silva’s side are riding a real wave.
Marking their return to action this weekend sat sixth in the table, the one-time Watford boss has been filled with praise for the impact that João Palhinha has made since arriving in west London.
Forming an eye-catching partnership with former Manchester United star Andreas Pereira, Palhinha has quickly become a rock in Silva’s midfield.
Already netting two Premier League strikes since making the move from Sporting Lisbon back in July, the 26-year-old appears to have been a smart investment from the top-flight returners.
Ivan Perisic – Tottenham
Although both Yves Bissouma and Richarlison might have impressed since arriving in north London this summer, Ivan Perisic has proved crucial in Tottenham’s impressive start to the new campaign.
Arriving from Italian giants Inter Milan after his deal at the San Siro has expired, the 33-year-old has quickly become a vital part of Antonio Conte’s five-at-the-back system.
The Croatian international had previously worked under the one-time Chelsea boss as they claimed the 2020/21 Serie A title.
Already cementing his spot as a fan favourite in north London, Perisic has also notched three Premier League assists so far this season – a tally that is only surpassed by Kevin De Bruyne
and Bukayo Saka.
Now starting in four of Spurs’ last five Premier League appearances, Perisic’s vast experience could prove to be another masterstroke from a Tottenham recruitment team that have done some impressive business.
