24 JULY 2019 UEFA Champions League : Viktoria Plzen vs Olympiakos

Date : 24 JULY 2019

Time : 01 : 00 AM

Match : Viktoria Plzen vs Olympiakos

Prediction : 2 - 1

Viktoria Plzen and Olympiakos Piraeus face each other at Doosan Arena in the Champions League 2nd qualifying round in what is expected to be one of the most entertaining games of Tuesday’s program. Plzen have already kicked off the new domestic season, with the team beating Sigma Olomuc 3-1 in their opener. The Viktorka aim to give fans yet another reason for celebration and they are likely to adopt an attack-minded approach in the first leg of the Champions League tie against Olympiakos.

A man to watch in the home team will be Congo DR midfielder Joel Ngandu Kaymba, who found the net in the 3-1 win over Sigma Olomuc. The Thrylos, on the other hand, are determined to regain their spot in the Champions League, but the fact that the Greek Super League season is not in full swing, we are tempted to put our money on the Czech champions.

HIGHLIGHTED PLAYER (MIGUEL GUERRERO):

Born in Toledo, Spain on 12 July, 1990, Miguel Angel Guerrero started his senior career at Albacete. He played just two matches for Albacete, but he made no less than 60 appearances for the B team between 2009 and 2011.

In 2011 he joined Sporting Gijon B, but he started playing for the first team soon. On 19 August, 2012 Guerrero made his debut for the Asturians in Segunda Division, but he played no moer than 25 minutes in a 2-0 loss to Numancia. Five months later he scored his first goal for Sporting Gijon in a local derby against Real Oviedo.

After scoring 16 goals in 89 appearances for the club between 2012 and 2016, the Spanish attacker signed a two-year deal with Leganes, newly promoted to the Spanish top flight. Guerrero has a contract with Leganes which expires on 30 June, 2018. During his youth career he played for the likes of Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, Getafe, Toledo and Rayo Vallecano.

HIGHLIGHTED TEAM (OLYMPIAKOS):

Olympiakos are regarded as one of the biggest club in Greece. The Thrylos were founded back in 1925 and they play their home games at Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium in Piraeus. The capacity of the stadium is 33 296. In 2016 Olympiakos won their 43rd Greek Superleague trophy and it has to be noted that they clinched their sixth consecutive domestic title.

However, the club’s biggest success came in 1999 as they participated in the Champions League quarter-finals. The Red and whites were beaten by Juventus in the two-legged tie. It is well known that Panathinaikos are considered the club’s bitterest rivals and the two teams share a great and long-standing rivalry.

The likes of AEK and PAOK are regarded as Olympiakos’ fierce opponents as well. The likes of Javier Saviola, Kevin Mirallas, Darko Kovacevic, Lomana LuaLua, Joel Campbell, Rivaldo and Marko Pantelic are notable footballers who played for the club in the past. Olympiakos fans are friends with Red Star Belgrade supporters.
