Manchester City continue to make history in the Premier League as they registered yet another win last night – this time against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The visitors managed to peg City back after the hosts went ahead, but three goals in the final ten minutes ensured that it’d be Pep’s men walking away as the victors once again.
Wolves wake up
For the first 45 minutes, Wolves continued to display the sort of lethargic football that has left some fans calling for the head of Nuno Espirito Santo. However, upon Conor Coady of all people grabbing the equaliser, something seemed to change. They were able to smell blood in the water and even though they didn’t see it through until the end, many supporters would much rather go down swinging with a 4-1 loss than go down without a fight at 1-0. Wolves woke up and smelt the coffee, and hopefully, that trend continues.
21 unbelievable wins
Manchester City just peppered the Wolves goal from beginning to end and they did so with the sort of ruthless confidence that is pretty rare in this Premier League season. They made it 21 consecutive wins in all competitions which is a figure that just goes way beyond anything the club would’ve thought was possible – especially after the poor start to the campaign they endured. Pep Guardiola wants to try and create history and even though they’ll turn one eye towards the UEFA Champions League, you’d have to imagine they will still put everything they’ve got into ensuring they dominate the remainder of the PL.
The overwhelming odds
Manchester City are 1/1000 favourites to win the Premier League title with 888sport which is easily the most extraordinary odds we’ve seen in a while. There are still plenty of games left to play but no other team is showing signs that they can hang with City – and they’re not even coming close. For the second straight year we have one team absolutely cruising to the title and while that may leave us lacking some drama at the top end of the table, it does give us time and space to appreciate what City have been able to achieve thus far.
