The Premier League’s all-star free agents that are still searching for a new club this summer

With England international Declan Rice inching towards what will be a blockbuster £105million move to Arsenal, it appears that England’s elite are set for a record summer spent.

However, while the Premier League might have only continued to flex their financial muscle over the past few transfer windows, there are a string of superstar names that find themselves without a club.

On what is a stacked list of Premier League superstars that are still searching for a new adventure ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, we have taken a look at three all-star free agents.

David de Gea

Although Erik ten Hag might have publicly stated over the past couple of months that he wanted David de Gea to extend his stay at Old Trafford past the summer, it now appears that the Spanish shot-stopper has officially played his final game for Manchester United.

While the ex-Atletico Madrid starlet might have cemented his spot as ten Hag’s number-one choice last season, Dea Gea once again came under a huge amount of scrutiny and many United fans feel that the time for a permanent change has come.

Reportedly the latest superstar name that has been linked with a bank-breaking move to Saudi Arabia, the 32-year-old spent nine years with the Premier League giants and made 545 appearances.

With it seeming like both parties will be unable to reach an agreement this summer, it looks like the Old Trafford hierarchy have already identified De Gea’s long-term replacement.

Now officially in discussions with Inter Milan over what could be a €55million deal for Andre Onana, reports have suggested that the 27-year-old is keen on the prospect of being reunited with his former Ajax boss.

Wilfried Zaha

While Crystal Palace might have officially welcomed back Roy Hodgson on a permanent basis earlier in the week, it appears that the Eagles will open the 2023/24 campaign without their homegrown attacking talisman.

Standing firm on his decision not to sign a contract extension at Selhurst Park over the past 12

months, Wilfried Zaha’s deal expired at the end of June and the one-time Manchester United man is yet to make a decision on his future.

However, while Palace might still be working behind the scenes and have reportedly offered the 30-year-old a new deal worth £200,000-per-week, it looks like the Ivory Coast international could be heading for a first European adventure.

Making over 400 appearances for his boyhood club and certainly cementing his spot as a modern-era icon at Selhurst Park, The Standard reported earlier in the week that Zaha has a string of clubs that are chasing his signature.

While Turkish giants Fenerbahce have approached Zaha’s representatives this summer, it is Champions League returners Lazio who appear to be leading the chase to snap up the one-time England youth star.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

While many fans around Anfield might have been excited by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s arrival from Arsenal back in 2017, it is fair to say that the 29-year-old has endured a public Merseyside nightmare over the past six years.

Despite making the move to Liverpool in a £35million move, the former Southampton academy graduate has dealt with a long list of injury issues and could only muster 13 appearances across all competitions last season.

With the last of those coming in Liverpool’s Champions League Round of 16 exit at the hands of Real Madrid back in February, it was no surprise that Jurgen Klopp’s side passed on the opportunity to offer a new deal to the ex-England star.

Following the likes of Roberto Firmino, James Milner and Naby Keita out of Anfield this summer, Oxlade-Chamberlain appears to find himself at a major career crossroads.

Alongside previous speculation surrounding a potential move to both Aston Villa and

Brighton, The Independent reported earlier in the week that the 35-cap international is also attracting interest from the Middle East.

Adama Traore

Making 34 Premier League appearances for Wolves last season after returning from his loan switch to Barcelona during the 2021/22 campaign, Adama Traore had certainly cemented his spot as a regular part of Julen Lopetegui’s first-team plans.

However, although the one-time Real Madrid boss might have been hopeful of retaining the Spanish international this summer, both parties failed to agree on a new deal after several rounds of talks.

With Traore reportedly unhappy that Wolves’ latest offer was significantly below the £100,000-per-week approach that he had been propositioned with two years ago, the ex-Middlesborough forward now appears destined for a move away from England’s top-flight.

With many behind the scenes at Molineux accepting that Traore has officially ended his five-year stint in the Midlands, it looks like the 27-year-old is inching towards a move to Serie A.

Along with continued speculation regarding a potential free switch to Roma, Sky Sports’ Gianluca Di Marzio reported last week that AC Milan have also signed their interest with Traore’s representatives.
