Finally managing to appoint a long-term successor to Jose Mourinho in a search that felt like a lifetime, Tottenham welcomed Nuno Espírito Santo to North London on a two-year deal last week.
With it clear to many that the former Wolves boss was not Spurs’ first choice to lead their rebuild, the 47-year-old looks set to have a real squad overhaul on his hands in the capital as The Lilywhites returned to pre-season training on Monday.

Toby Alderweireld
Suffering more international heartbreak with Belgium on Friday night and watching Italy knock them out of this summer’s European Championships, it appears that Toby Alderweireld will return to North London this week and begin his search for a new club.
With The Athletic reporting that the 32-year-old has made it clear to the Tottenham hierarchy that he wishes to leave this summer, regardless of who could be in the new man in the dugout, Alderweireld is expected to be allowed to move on should the club receive an acceptable offer before the window slams shut.
Signing an improved four-year deal with The Lilywhites back in 2019 under Mourinho, the 113 cap international looks set to end his six-year stay in the capital and it appears that Santo and new Sporting Director Fabio Paratici have already lined up some potential replacement for Alderweireld.
Speaking over the weekend, trusted transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Spurs have already opened talks with Spanish outfit Sevilla over a potential deal to bring highly-touted defender Jules Kounde to the Premier League for a fee that could be in the region of £50million.
Moussa Sissoko
Another star like Alderweireld who saw his European adventure cut short last week, France international Moussa Sissoko is another prime candidate who could be on their way out of Tottenham over the coming weeks.
Previously stating back in February that he was unsure as to what his future held before opening the 2021/22 campaign, the former Newcastle midfielder turns 32 days after opening the new season and many at Tottenham feel that this is a perfect time to cash in on a player who still has two years left on his current deal.
With Spurs also smelling a chance to slash their wage bill, the Frenchman failed to play any kind of role following Ryan Mason’s temporary stint in charge and Sissoko appeared set to be on his way out of the club last month after it was revealed they were in negotiations with Italian outfit Napoli.
However, although discussions started well, La Gazzette dello Sport broke the news that talks had broken down and any move was off, something that was later confirmed by Napoli Sporting Director, Cristiano Giunto.
Along with confirming that personal terms were a stumbling block, Giunto stated that the demands made by Tottenham over a potential transfer fee were “excessive”.
Serge Aurier
While the likes of Alderweireld might have been more discreet about their future at Spurs, defender Serge Aurier has made it no secret that he is desperate to secure a move away this summer and end what has quickly become a North London nightmare at the 2019 Champions League finalists.
In what was an exclusive interview with French outlet L’Equipe last month, the Ivory Coast international announced that he would not be extending his stay in the capital and even went one step further to suggest a potential move away could be imminent.
Saying he has reached the “end of a cycle” and with just 12 months left on his current deal at Spurs, Aurier made it clear that his number one target this summer is to secure a move back to former club PSG.
Now under the guidance of former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, the 28-year-old even went on to add that personal terms have already been agreed and he is simply waiting on the green light from Daniel Levy.
